1 John 4:7-12 says:
7Dear friends, we should love each other, because love comes from God. The person who loves has become God's child. And so the person who loves knows God.8The person that does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9This is how God showed his love to us: God sent his only Son into the world to give us life through him. 10True love is God's love for us, not our love for God. God sent his Son to be the way that God takes away our sins.11That is how much God loved us, dear friends! So we also must love each other.12No person has ever seen God. But if we love each other, then God lives in us. If we love each other, then God's love has reached its goal--it is made perfect in us. (Easy-to-Read Version)
King James Version: 7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
